‘Chasing Soul’ was taken from a metal key ring Stephen had with these two words engraved. These words encompass everything that Stephen’s life was about. He lived life to the fullest. He was highly successful in his career, he travelled the world and had an enormous network of friends. He believed in a bigger existence and sought out a deeper understanding of himself and connections with those around him.

In his early twenties Stephen had self-funded attendance at ‘Outward Bound’ and other wellbeing retreats throughout his life to help understand and improve his self-confidence and awareness. 

 

Since attending Outward Bound, he together with his brother, Travis, put money aside each year to allow all of their prized nephews and nieces to go on a course such as ‘Outward Bound’ when they were old enough. It is this legacy we want to preserve.

As after what we understand to be a relatively short period of mental health challenges, Stephen tragically took his life. His family and friends left behind continue to experience the difficult aftermath of suicide.

This charity was founded to honour Stephen's legacy by providing assistance to young people who are struggling with mental health, and providing support to their wider networks.

The Chasing Soul Charitable Trust trustees are Stephen’s mother Sue, sisters Jolene and Carlena, and brothers Jonathan and Travis. Chasing Soul is a registered charity in New Zealand.
